Closing Ceremony of English Access Microscholarship Program (2016-2018) sponsored by the U.S. Embassy

On the morning of 18 March 2019, the College of Machinery and Irrigation, in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, solemnly held the Closing Ceremony and awarded certificates for students of the English Access Microscholarship Program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in the presence of delegates: Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the College; Mr. Tran Van Thang – Vice Rector of the College; Mr. Pham Van Cong – Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Brian Neely – Cultural Affairs Assistant of the U.S. Consulate General in HCM; Ms. Le Thi Kim Muon – Cultural Affairs Assistant of the U.S. Consulate General in HCM; Ms. Phan Thi Hong Man – Educational Consultant of the U.S. Consulate General in HCM; Heads and Deputy Heads of departments and faculties, lecturers of English Access Microscholarship Program; especially all 25 students of the English Access Microscholarship Program (2016-2018) and their parents.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the College praised the achievements in the teaching and learning of the English Access Microscholarship Program, emphasizing that the achievements had contributed to the implementation of the school’s training goals to train generations of students who were good at knowledge, professional skills, good ethical qualities, and were equipped with soft skills and good foreign language skills reaching international standards. Also, he would like to express sincere thanks to the U.S. Consulate General for sponsoring scholarships and accompanying students during the last 2 years of the Program; thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Board of Directors of Dong Nai Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs for the careful attention and clear guidance; thanks and appreciation for the hard work of the teachers; thanks for the support and accompanying of the parents. He praised the efforts of 25 students who successfully completed the task of studying the English Access Microscholarship Program, achieved high results and then were granted certificates by the U.S. Consulate which could help them confidently integrate into the world on the path of finding a career and helping themselves, and he especially praised Luy Huy Hoa Hoa, Access student for his YSEALI scholarship to study at Montana University.

Speech by Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the College

Mr. Pham Van Cong – Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, highly appreciated the contribution of the College of Machinery and Irrigation in training officers and technical workers, especially the training of high-quality technical workforce for industrial development in Dong Nai province, contributing to the successful implementation of Dong Nai province’s construction and development strategy in particular and the goal of industrialization and modernization of the Party and State of the country in general. The successful implementation of the U.S. Embassy’s English Access Microscholarship Program continued to affirm the quality and position of the College in the TVET system.

Mr. Brian Neely – Cultural Affairs Assistant of the U.S. Consulate General in HCM highly appreciated the effective cooperation of the College in the implementation of the English Access Microscholarship Program with the result of 25 / 25 students in the Program achieving good results and certified by the U.S. Embassy and he looked forward to the continuous cooperation between the U.S. Consulate General and the College in the upcoming time. He also expressed thanks to the Board of College’s Rectors, functional departments of the College, the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Dong Nai Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, teachers, parents of Access students; he also expressed his happiness at the maturity, attentiveness and learning achievements of Access students and his expectation that the U.S. Embassy will continue to support them on the way of their career development and to access higher scholarships from the United States.

Liu Huy Hoa, on behalf of Access students, expressed his gratitude to the Board of College’s Rectors, the U.S. Consulate, leaders of ministries and departments, and teachers. For Access students, Access could be considered to be the biggest change for their youth and every week through every page, every lesson and extracurricular activities, they were confident in communication, were able to show their own feelings and thoughts in their second language.

The parents of Access students also expressed their happiness at the unexpected growth of their children and believed that with the knowledge and skills equipped by the College and the Program, their children will be successful in life. They also would like to express their grateful thank to the College and the U.S. Embassy.

At the end of the Ceremony, the Board of College’s Rectors, Dong Nai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Mr. Brian Neely, the U.S. Consulate General Representative presented the certificates and flowers to Access students.
