In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, the use and operation of smart devices became more and more popular. To create technical human resources to meet the requirements of this revolution, training institutions in general and vocational training institutions, in particular, must constantly update and adjust their training programs and curricula, promoting research activities and proactively applying research results in teaching. Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest at VCMI is one of the specific activities of its scientific research, conducted annually, contributing to creating devices with effective applications in vocational education activities, following the development trend of science and technology.
The quality of the Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest has been increasingly improved.
Training equipment is an extremely important factor, affecting the training quality of vocational training institutions in general as well as VCMI in particular. In addition to training equipment purchased with the state budget, VCMI also proactively supplements training equipment through the annual Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest.

After three times organized, the Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest has become one of the basic activities in scientific research of the College. The Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest at the college level is held every three years, with increasing quality: the number of models of equipment participating in the contest is more and more increasingly, highly applicable, one equipment model that can be used to teach multiple-modules of an occupation; The organization process has also been renovated, and more and more perfectly. The contest has been attracting the participation of almost faculties in the College.
The Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest at college level in 2019 attracted 7 models from units in the College, including model of spreading, simulating computer assembly of the IT Faculty; Miniature CNC milling model of the Faculty of Mechanic Engineering; intelligent electrical equipment installation model of the Electric – Electronic Engineering Faculty; Model of electronic fuel injection system (1NZ-PE engine) of the Machinery Engineering Faculty; Game Design models, Spatial geometry model, Single-phase generator model of basic Science Faculty.

Like the previous contests, the Self-made Vocational Teaching Equipment Contest at college level in 2019 aims to promote the intelligence and creativity of staff, teachers, students and students in creating training equipment, contributing to improving the quality in vocational training. The contest is also an opportunity for lecturers to exchange and learn from each other about the experience of invention, improving training equipment … contributing to promoting the internal resources of the College, creating many quality training types of equipment, consistent with the training program, contributing to improving the quality of training.
The highlight of this year’s contest is that there are many models participating in the contest, in addition to the greening TVET content, focusing on the application of achievements of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, contributing to building a smart learning ecosystem, helping learners to practice the skills of using and operating equipment applying the technology of revolution 4.0 in enterprises. In the models this year, the model of spreading, simulating computer assembly of the IT faculty, the model of miniature CNC milling machine of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the model of intelligent electrical equipment installation of the faculty of the Electric – Electronic Engineering are highly appreciated.
For “the model of spreading, simulating computer assembly”, stemming from difficulties in approaching the subjects related to computer hardware equipment such as: not yet clearly grasping the use and function, the construction of each device, the assembly – installation process of the computer and especially the current models and simulations have not trained the user in the skill of equipment selection and compatibility testing among device. The IT author group has built a model of spreading, simulating computer assembling. This is a model spread out all the components of the computer combined with the software that allows users to choose compatible devices according to their needs. This helps students easily learn about the features, uses and structure of hardware devices on the computer spreading model; can self-study, self-test knowledge, self-assembly on simulation software; select compatible equipment to assemble a computer set; assembling and installing complete computer sets; In addition, it helps students study at home easily through the software. The most outstanding feature of the spreading model, simulation of computer assembly compared to other models on the market is training for users in the skill of selecting equipment and checking compatibility between devices, through simulation software, helps learners easiest absorb it.

In metal cutting occupation, the model of miniature CNC milling machine of the author group of Faculty of Mechanic Engineering was also highly appreciated by the Competition Jury. Mr. Tran Dai Nghia, a member of the author group, said “Our contest equipment is a combination of the trend of integrating electrical, mechatronics and mechanical devices to create models use for many occupations, this is the trend of developing vocational training equipment currently in Vietnam and in the world. This trend has increased the efficiency of the device, through being able to be applied to many different lectures, different modules, and many occupations on one model. Equipping knowledge about the 4.0 revolution for apprentices is very necessary. To reduce the abstraction and complexity in theoretical lectures or practical exercises that require high thinking, the lecturers of the Faculty of Electric – Electronic Engineering have designed a model of installing electrical equipment, simulating devices like being real, help learners be receptive and practice. Compared with the training equipment sold on the market, the model of electrical equipment installation of the Faculty of Electric – Electronic Engineering has more advantages, such as in accordance with the requirements and trends of using technology in the businesses and social life, helping students to understand the lesson easily, in accordance with the conditions of teaching at the College, cheaper prices …

At the end of the Contest, the Organizing Committee awarded a First Prize for the device “Model of spreading, simulating and assembling computers” of the IT faculty; a second prize for the “miniature CNC milling machine model” of the Faculty of Mechanic Engineering; two third prizes for the intelligent electrical equipment installation model of the Faculty of Electric – Electronic Engineering and the Model of electronic fuel injection system (1NZ-PE engine) of the Faculty of Machinery Engineering; Models of “game design”, “Spatial geometry model” and “1-phase generator model” of basic science teachers received the Consolation Prize.
