Rapid development of the College of Machinery and Irrigation impressed the Delegates of German Embassy
On May 26, 2020, the Delegates from German Embassy in Vietnam – Ph.D. Sebastian Paust (First Counsellor, Head of Development Cooperation, German Embassy in Hanoi), Ms. Helene Paust, (First Secretary, Deputy Head of Development Cooperation, German Embassy in Hanoi) with the managers from GIZ – TS. Juergen Hartwig (Director of the Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”), Mr. Bach Hung Truong (Team leader, Support of Centres for Excellence for TVET) visited the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) to get an overview of the activities being implemented and the upcoming implementation plan within the frame of the College’s technical and financial cooperation program. This is the second time the German Embassy delegation has visited the College (the first time was in September 2018).
TS Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of VCMI spoke about the progress of the Project activities and results achieved so far, the upcoming plans and express the desire to continue receiving support from GIZ and KfW in the technical and financial Cooperation program.

The delegates listened and discussed with the College’s leaders about the achieved results and effectiveness of training activities for teaching staff (training skills), the College management (management skills) and about the installation and arrangement in workshops and laboratories supported by the Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam”. The delegates also exchanged their views on the construction progress of the Green CoE and procurement of training equipment for the two new occupations at the College (“Electronics for Energy and Building technology” and “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate technology”) financed by KfW development bank . The delegates also visited classes, workshops and talked with teachers and students of the College. The delegation highly appreciated the rapid development of the College as well as the unwearied efforts of its whole staff to overcome difficulties and challenges in order to make the College become a prestigious and quality training institution.

The College of Machinery and Irrigation in Dong Nai has been being supported to develop toward a Centre of Excellence for Green TVET and to provide basic and advanced training courses according to the demand of a green and sustainable economy. In 2018, with the support of the experts from Germany, the College developed successfully the basic module for “environmental protection, energy and resource efficiency” in collaboration with partners to pilot and transfer to vocational training institutions. Regarding the training programs for the two new occupations, the College has established the learning outcomes appraised by the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training under the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. In the near future, the College will continue developing and completing the training program for the two new occupations to promptly put them into training as scheduled.
