College of Machinery and Irrigation open two new occupations
On June 14, 2019, the College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI – under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) has established Advisory Council and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the preparation and implementation of coordinated training program for two new occupations: “Electronics for Energy and Building Technology” ” and ” “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology” “.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, representatives of businesses and related professional associations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of VCMI, said, “Electronics for Energy and Building Technology” ” and ” “Mechanics for Sanitary, Heating and Climate Technology” are two new occupations under Vietnamese-German program “Reform of TVET in Vietnam” which is being implemented at VCMI.
This program is currently being concretized by the project “Building a Centre of Excellent for Green TVET in Vietnam – a regional center for Cambodia – Laos – Myanmar and Vietnam”, approved by the Prime Minister of Vietnam at Decision No. 206 / QD-TTg dated December 27, 2017.

Accordingly, the project will support VCMI to invest synchronously in facilities, training equipment, renovation of the school landscape, training for cadres and teachers oriened on German standards; taking the lead in building, forming and developing new occupations in the field of green vocational training to meet international standards in Vietnam.
Ms. Lisa Kreibch, Head of Component “Support of Centres of Excellence” said: “Within the frame of Vietnamese-German Cooperation Programme on TVET in Vietnam, we are making effor to establish a demand- oriented intergrated training model. We are currently supporting VCMI forward a Center of Excellent for Green TVET in the future ”.
The members the Advisory Council include professional education personnel, representatives of professional associations, large enterprises employing workers related to the two new occupations.

As Ms. Lisa Kreibch said , the Advisory Council will promote cooperation between the representatives of: Board of Managers and teachers of VCMI – Leadership and training staff of parner companies- Professional Associations and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) – Directorate of Vocational Education and Training and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai Province to improve the quality of demand-oriented training quality of the two new occupations. “The cooperation will focus on jointly developing output standards and cooperative training programs, implementing training stages at enterprises and at VCMI, evaluating and issuing certificates for these two new occupations based on German standards, ”said Ms Lisa Kreibich

Deputy Director General of Directorate of Vocational Education and Training, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Dr. Nguyen Thi Viet Huong said that the vocational school system is sufficient to meet the training demand for quantity, now it is necessary to improve training quality.
“VCMI is a highlight in the vocational training system. VCMI’s high-quality Green vocational training program should be replicated throughout the system ”, said a representative of MOLISA.
