1- Position and functions
– The Faculty of Basic Science is the faculty under the College of Machinary and Irrigation (VCMI). The Faculty has the function of teaching vocational culture subjects for the Intermediate system, teaching the basic subjects for the colleges and teaching the high school cultural programs for the Continuing Education system as prescribed.
– Manage lecturers, students, and students assigned by the College.
2- Responsibilities and authority
– Faculty of Basic Sciences has the responsibilities and authority stipulated at Clause 4, Article 14 of Regulation on organization and operation of the VCMI issued at Decision No. 02/QD-CG&TL dated 02/01/2018, as follows:
Teaching:
– Organizing and teach subjects under the management Faculty and other educational activities according to the College’s general plan.
– Preparing and supplemental curriculum, syllabus, outline of subjects / modules, test bank, reference materials, equipment, facilities for teaching and learning.
– Managing lecturers. Assigning lecturers according to the plan, adjusting the teaching plan when necessary.
– Performing teaching and study managing tasks: point management and bookkeeping, record keeping as prescribed; implement the plan and coordinate the organization of exams as prescribed.
– Developing plans and propose training needs to improve professional qualifications for faculty and lecturers of the Faculty.
– Performing scientific research according to regulations and participate in movements and contests launched by the College.
– Proposing the establishment of a subject organization (if necessary).
Student education management:
– Assigning the homeroom teacher.
– Collaborating well with College units and students’ parents to perform a comprehensive education for students.
– Coordinating with functional departments to implement the State policies for students, scholarships, social benefits, insurance, training credits and other entitlements related to students.
Other Tasks:
– Carrying out the education of political ideology, ethical lifestyle for lecturers. Periodically organize the assessment and classification of officials and lecturers according to regulations.
– Managing, exploit and effectively use the facilities and equipment assigned by the College. Proposing addition, maintenance of equipment assigned.
– Carrying out the annual self-inspection according to the plan.
– Coordinating with Department of Accounting and Finance to check the situation of tuition fees, exam fees and other revenues by semester, school year (if any).
– Joining the Advisory Council under the decision of the Rector.
– Following the reporting regime as prescribed by the superior.
– Doing other responsibilities assigned by the Rector Board.
3- Organizational structure
Based on the assigned functions and responsibilities, the expected staffing of the Faculty: 26 persons, including:

+ Lecturers: 24 persons.
