Programme « Reform of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) – Center of Excellence for Green TVET” approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 206 / QD-TTg dated 15 / 2/2017 with the aim of developing VCMI toward a high-quality center in ‘Green’ TVET of Vietnam, contributing to the supply of qualified labor to meet the needs of the development a Green and sustainable economy in the process of industrialization, modernization and international integration in Vietnam.
The programme is aimed at providing the qualified labor force to meet the needs of the development of a Green and sustainable economy; After years of preparation for facilities, teacher training, output standards, training programs, teaching materials, learning materials … VCMI officially opened the first classes of the occupations « electronics for energy and building technology » and « mechanics for sanitary, heating and climate technology « under the programme for the school year 2020-2021, with the training qualifications equivalent to German standards. The two occupations have attracted great attention from parents and learners. As of August 23, 90 students have been enrolled for the occupations and started studying at VCMI from September 3, along with more than 1,500 students of the new school year (K40) at college and intermediate levels of other occupations. This is a result of the efforts and strong determination of VCMI and the active support of the Programme Reform of TVET in Vietnam – the German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
On September, 25 representatives of GIZ and Siemens company visited VCMI within the framework of the programme. The College discussed with GIZ the enrollment results of the 2 occupations and results of the technical and financial cooperation so far and activities expected to implement in the near future.

During the visit, Dr Juergen Hartwig, Director of Programme “Reform of TVET in Viet Nam” met and exchanged with new students of the occupations “Electronics for energy and building technology’ and ‘Mechanics for sanitary, heating and climate technology ” under the programme. Mr. Juergen Hartwig introduced the supports of the Programme to the College such as improving teachers’ capacity, supporting equipment according to German standards, assigning Germany experts to work at VCMI. All students of the 2 occupations will be trained with high-qualified lecturers and will be practised on modern equipment and have opportunities to get job offer at foreign companies. Especially female new students will have a chance to get attractive scholarship from the Programme.

In the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, Rector of VCMI, appreciated the effective and positive cooperation of the Program « Reform of TVET in Vietnam » and on behalf of VCMI, promised that the new students of the two occupations under the programme will be trained and studied in the best environment and fully granted advantages from the Programme.
Besides the delegates from GIZ, representatives of Vietnam Siemens company also come and visited VCMI’s facilities, paying attention to the workshops of training occupations. Mr. Tran Van Hieu, training official of Siemens highly appreciated the layout of training equipment in the workshops as well as the modern equipment used in training. Representatives of Siemens, the Program « Reform of TVET in Vietnam » and VCMI exchanged about opportunities for cooperation in upcoming time and agreed to establish a group with aim of making ideas preparing for the cooperation, especially in the fields of electric, electronics, and technology 4.0
